Know the warning signs
Six signs your oil tank is on its way out
When a tank fails, the tank is the cheap part. Contaminated soil, a polluted watercourse and the remediation that follows routinely run into five figures, and most home insurance policies will not cover it if the tank was already past its design life. Replacing before that happens is nearly always cheaper.
Rust, blistering or weeping seams
Steel tanks corrode from the inside out, so visible rust means it is already well advanced.
Cracks, crazing or bulging
UV degradation makes plastic tanks brittle. Splits usually start at the top seam or the outlet.
Oil staining or a strong smell
Any staining under or around the tank means fuel is escaping somewhere.
A cracked or sinking base
A full tank weighs over two tonnes. A failing base stresses the outlet and skews your gauge.
Repeated boiler lockouts
Usually water and sludge in the tank bottom blocking the filter and nozzle.
A tank over 20 years old
Past design life, and the point at which insurers start asking questions about it.
How a tank replacement actually runs
One fixed price for the whole job, agreed before we start. This is what actually happens on the day.
Free site survey
An OFTEC engineer inspects the tank, base, oil line and siting, then issues a fixed written quote.
Oil recovered and filtered
Your remaining oil is pumped into our holding tanks and filtered so it can go straight back into the new tank.
Old tank removed
The tank is disconnected, decommissioned, lifted out and taken away for recycling.
Base prepared
Any groundwork or building work is carried out so the new tank sits on a level, compliant base.
New tank installed
The new bunded tank is positioned, the oil line is run or reconnected, and fittings are made off.
Tested and handed over
We refill, bleed and test the boiler or AGA, clear the site, and issue your paperwork.

Very good experience. Visited to quote and answered all of my queries. The installation went exactly to plan with no issues. The old tank was taken away and a new one installed on a new base, and my existing oil was then transferred into it. The whole job took only a few hours from start to finish. Faultless service.
Nigel Silcock - Google
Absolutely brilliant service. From the first contact phone call they were professional and helpful. They came over the same day and put our fears away. They sorted everything out, from emptying the old tank and putting down a new base and installing a new tank. All the guys were courteous, friendly and hard working. A superb company run by real genuine professionals.
Amanda Louth - Google
Excellent service at a competitive price. Dan and Ryan arrived promptly as arranged and our oil tank was cheerfully drained and removed. The job was done really quickly and efficiently, with minimal disruption and no mess at all. Good to know the residual waste oil will be filtered and reused, whilst the plastic tank will be recycled and the materials turned into new products. Very happy with your service and delighted we chose you.

Excellent job. Two crews turned up to remove my old steel tank from the garage loft and replace it with a new one in the garden. Ran pipes across the lawn, through the house to the boiler and Aga. Worked hard on a very hot day and left the place nice and clean. Looking forward to you guys servicing it for years to come. Thanks.
Phil Selley - Google
I was very pleased and impressed with the workmanship from start to finish. They did a marvellous job and left the site extremely clean and tidy. Exceptional work, thank you so very much. I would definitely recommend.
Peggy Buckman - Google
The fitters worked very quickly and efficiently and in no time had removed my old oil tank, made a base for the new one, fitted and filled the new tank, and checked all was working. They were very polite, telling me everything I needed to know, and ensured the site was clean and tidy before they left. Thank you for a job well done, highly recommended.

About us
A family business that does one thing: oil storage
Oil Tank Replacement Services is family run from Market Rasen in Lincolnshire, with more than 80 years of combined experience across the team. We do one thing, which is oil storage, for domestic, agricultural and commercial customers, and we lay our own bases rather than subcontracting the groundworks.
Because we only work on oil storage, our engineers see the same failures over and over, and they will tell you when a tank can be cleaned and kept going for another few years instead of replaced. That is the smaller invoice, and we would rather quote it than sell you a tank you do not need yet.
More about usAreas we cover
We work out of Market Rasen in Lincolnshire and cover twelve counties across the East Midlands, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. Just outside the area? Call us anyway, because we travel further for larger and commercial jobs.
